Lane changes on Itäväylä in Kalasatama from 2 June 2026 onwards
The traffic arrangements on Itäväylä will change in Kalasatama from Tuesday 2 June 2026 onwards due to the replacement of the Junatie metro bridge.
There will be lane changes on Itäväylä in the section of the road approaching the city centre from the east. The rightmost driving lane will be closed on the west side of Kalasatama metro station from Tuesday 2 June onwards. Only one driving lane will be available when approaching the junction with Sörnäisten rantatie.
These traffic arrangements are related to the replacement of the Junatie metro bridge. The lane has to be closed to allow a support wall to be built along Itäväylä in the section that will be unavailable for use. The support wall is necessary to build the substructure for the new bridge.
There is a reduced speed limit of 30 km/h in the area. Traffic congestions may occur at times.
This is a temporary traffic arrangement, and a new temporary driving lane will be built next to the remaining lane for the duration of the work. The second lane is expected to be ready for use during the summer of 2026.
